In this fun activity, students use a paperclip to create a spinner to spin a prefix on the Doodlebug. After they spin a prefix, they choose a word from the box to add the prefix to that makes sense. For example, they spin "re-", they can choose "play" from the box to make replay and write a sentence on the lines. They could not choose "loyal" for a baseword because "reloyal" doesn't make sense. This activity would be great for 2-4 grades who have been taught prefixes and are ready to take it a step higher. It could also be great for 1st -2nd grade students who need that extra challenge! A great way to build writing into your Daily 5/Balanced Literacy Stations and incorporate those essential language arts skills. Also a great center activity!
Side note--the writing lines look a little "funny" for the thumbnails, but the download and printing is just fine! :) I tried it!
