In this fun activity, students use a paperclip to create a spinner to spin a suffix on the Doodlebug. After they spin a suffix, they choose a word from the box to add the suffix to that makes sense. For example, they spin "-ful", they can choose "color" from the box to make colorful and write a sentence on the lines. They could not choose "teach" for a baseword because "teachful" doesn't make sense. This activity would be great for 2-4 grades who have been taught suffixes and are ready to take it a step higher. It could also be great for 1st -2nd grade students who need that extra challenge! A great way to build writing into your Daily 5/Balanced Literacy Stations and incorporate those essential language arts skills. Also a great center activity!
Side note--the writing lines look a little "funny" for the thumbnails, but the download and printing is just fine! :) I tried it!
Thank you to Krista Wallden for the cute bug spinner!
