This is the first piece in Dorian Mode. It's mostly quarter notes and gives students a new option in terms of composition.
Instructions and explanations are included at the top of the sheet. The music can be performed solo or with a group. Deskbells and BoomWhackers work well too.
I've made a YouTube video for my flipped learning class and it can be accessed here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xjjHVeuVS_4
Once students run through the first 3 pieces (Quarter to Five, Quarter to Five 2, Cascades), they will find this piece easy to tackle. The only challenge is getting them to comprehend a piece not in Major tonality. Even though Dorian is a minor mode, it has a raised sixth.
Teachers that want to delve deeper into theory can do so by explaining the degrees, while the instructions included are enough for beginners.
