Kindergarten through third graders love this game! It's is an engaging way to practice addition facts. These games can be used in order as the students learn their facts. It can be used as a math center, early finisher activity, or homework tool for students to play with their family. In addition, it can be slid into a dry-erase pocket and used over-and-over again to save paper.
It covers the Common Core Standards: 1.OA.C6 & 2.OA.B2--Fluently add within 20.
Directions: Students play this game with a partner. Each student uses a different colored crayon. They take turns making a line that connects two dots vertically or horizontally. If they close a square, they solve the addition fact. If correct, they color in the square. If incorrect, their partner gets to color it. If they close square and answer the addition fact correctly, they get to make another line. Turn ends when they can’t close a square or they answer an addition fact incorrectly. Once all squares are colored in, each student counts the number of squares in his/her color. The one with the most wins.
