Addition, Double-Digit: This resource is designed to provide a fun way for students to practice adding double-digit numbers. It is played like the traditional “war” card game. Students solve the addition problem presented on their cards and the player with the greatest number for an answer keeps both cards. Of course, there is an opportunity for students to have a “war” if their answers are equal. Play continues until one player ends up with all cards. In addition to practicing double-digit addition, students practice comparing numbers (greater than, less than, and equal to). There are 3 different worksheets that focus on the skills of double-digit addition and comparing numbers that can be used as a wrap up after the game. The game can be used with a partner or group during math centers. It can also be used by a general education or special education teacher with a group of students who may be struggling with double-digit addition and number sense but are motivated by learning games. Great for special education students who have IEP goals in the area of math calculation (addition) and number sense (comparing numbers).
Intended for grades 1, 2, 3.
