Students play this game to practice 2-digit vertical addition and subtraction. There are several versions in order to differentiate and best meet the needs of your students (all versions look the same, but are titled differently to differentiate between the different skill focus). See below for game directions and versions. A recording sheet is also included for students to show their work when solving the equations.
****PLEASE NOTE…..THIS GAME STAYS WITHIN 100 (therefore there is only regrouping to the tens place).
This game requires no cutting, so you can just print and play! This game does, however, require a die and markers (or different colored counters).
Race to the Tent
Directions: Players take turns to roll the die. The player then finds that number die on the gameboard and answers the first equation on the path to the tent. If they answer correctly they cover the space with a counter (or color it in with a marker). Continue taking turns, answering the equations and covering the spaces. The first player to reach a tent by covering the last space on the path is the winner.
