I love double-entry journals for independent reading or for things we are reading together in class. I created this printable journal so all the students would have a specific journal for the book on which they were completing the double-entry journal. The first page includes what would be the front/back cover (folded in half), and the second page includes what would be the journal pages. The journal pages can be duplicated and printed front/back to create as long of a journal as is necessary. Each of the journal pages has a left side where the students write a quote from the book (along with the page number where the quote was found) and a right side where the students write some type of reaction or response to this quote or what is happening in the story at the time. This is a great way for students to make personal connections to what they are reading.
