Your students will enjoy the hands-on experience of using dough or loose parts to create the letters of the alphabet. It is a great activity to build fine motor skills, and strengthen the muscles in hands and fingers.
This activity will introduce your students to or reinforce their knowledge of the uppercase and lower case letters, as well as providing them with a chance to learn or practise some words that begin with that sound.
These mats can be laminated or put into page protectors for repeated use. Your students can use dough to create the letters and identify words that start with the same letter or loose parts (pom poms, stones, sequins etc). The bottom of the mat also provides opportunity for printing practise for each letter.
This activity can be completed:
-In small groups
-independently or with teacher support
-As a center (literacy or math)
-As a guided activity
BLACK AND WHITE AND COLOUR MATS ARE INCLUDED
We hope your students enjoy these activities and it helps them to continue to build their literacy and fine motor skills.
