Turn your students into doctors as they must figure out what is wrong with a patient based on his/her symptoms!
Perfect for use in an Anatomy & Physiology class, or other class where body systems are studied!
Great use of inquiry as students are given a problem and must search for the solution using textbooks or internet.
For each system of the body (plus the special senses) a case study is given. Students are then to name and describe the condition, what they would do to confirm the diagnosis, and give treatment options.
12 Case studies, as well as the solutions given!
*Usage tip: Use as a "bell activity". Before starting up a new body system, have the case study for the body system about to be covered projected for students to see as they walk in to class. They will know to get started on their investigation. Depending on your students, each activity will take approximately 20-30 minutes. You could have students turn in their answers or simply use it as class discussion once everyone has had time to investigate. You could have students work individually or with a partner. An incentive/reward for being the first done with correct, thorough information always makes for an exciting time as well!
Sure to be an activity students look forward to when starting a new body system!
