For this assignment, students are inserting a chapter of their own composition into the story The Strange Case of Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. Students will narrate through Hyde's perspective, and relate some of his misadventures that have taken place outside of the novel's plot. My students love the opportunity to "tell" Hyde's story and linked their narration to research about the Victorian Period that we discussed in class. The result was authentic, creative compositions. I also used a peer rubric in conjunction with this assignment so that the students could assess each other's work.
