This resource was inspired by the book ‘The Doctor with an Eye for Eyes’ written by Julia Finley Mosca. The book is based on the life and career of Dr. Patricia Bath – an amazing ophthalmologist and inventor, who grew up with barriers that could have stopped her from succeeding, yet, she showed great tenacity and strength and fought to succeed against all odds.
The words on these posters are from the closing page of the book. “Like Patricia, stay FOCUSED. Push FORWARD. Shine BRIGHT…” That’s what I hope for my students and definitely want to encourage them to be STRONG just like Dr. Bath demonstrated through the challenges that she faced in her pursuit for excellence.
These words are ideal to display in your classroom to encourage your students to strive for whatever they are passionate about. Because the reality is, they just don’t know where, or how far their passion and dreams will take them in the future.
