Before You Begin:
Print out and cut each game card and Call-Out piece on card stock and/or laminate.
One Fish Two Fish by Dr. Seuss
Bingo chips or Swedish Fish, Colored Gold Fish, Skittles, etc.
Suggested Ways to Play:
Before reading, print out multiple sheets of the Call-Out pieces (either for each individual student, pairs of students or small groups). Have students cut out the pieces and organize them into two categories (depending on their level; give students the categories or let them choose categories - suggested categories: nouns/adjectives/verbs, living/nonliving things, rhyming/non-rhyming words, colored Call-Out pieces (red, blue and yellow), picture/one-word/multiple word, big/small, plural/singular).
While you read, have students mark their BINGO cards with your desired Bingo chips. Stop periodically and have students share what pieces they have covered (or have left). Students can call BINGO as their boards get covered (everyone will have won by the end of the story).
After reading, play BINGO as you normally would. Pass out the BINGO cards and either you or a student calls out the Call-Out pieces randomly. Students can win vertically, horizontally or by covering the entire board. Have as many winners and rounds as you’d like!
After reading, have students write or share out silly sentences using the three top, then middle, then bottom rows on their BINGO cards or have students create silly stories to share with their partners or the class using the entire BINGO card!
