This fun letter informs parents of the special events being held to celebrate Dr. Seuss' birthday and Read Across America! You can plan any lessons you would like around these themed days, but here are some sample ideas:
Green Eggs and Ham Day - Serve your students green pudding with a vanilla cookie in the middle to look like an egg!
Wocket in My Pocket Day - Students can bring in a small item and then journal about the item to practice using adjectives to describe it to someone. The person reading the writing piece can try to guess what the item is!
Wacky Wednesday - All students can dress in silly mixed-up outfits and you can mix-up things in the classroom, schedule, etc.
Book Character Day - Students can dress as any of their favorite book characters to celebrate Read Across America Day!
Sleep Book Day - Wear pajamas and keep the lights down low. You can also curl up with blankets and flashlights for silent reading around the room!
I hope you enjoy these ideas!!!
