Basic drafting is a very useful skill when learning how to draw. The first natural step in learning how to draw for many young artists is first by imitation. By breaking down images into smaller, simpler areas, students can dissect an image visually with much greater ease.
Students will enjoy doing this exercise, as I have collected and hand-drawn a variety of open-source images that will be relatable to a variety of students. Students will complete these worksheets by copying each square at a time, similar to a Battleship type game.
Worksheets work best when given out periodically, or when other work has been finished early. I have also included a blank image so students can copy their own drawings.
