Here is a math game for two players which provides fun practice in addition facts up to 10. It is meant to be set up as a file folder game, but may be adapted any way you like. The set-up is simple, with each player receiving 11 “dragon’s eggs” numbered 0-10. The goal is to be the first player to place all of your eggs into your nest. You do this by drawing a card, adding the two numbers on the card, and selecting the corresponding egg and placing it in your nest. If a player draws a dragon card, he or she gets to blow all of the opponent’s eggs from their nest, and that person has to start over.
Players may be encouraged to state the math fact out loud so that their opponent can hear. This gives double the practice!
Playing cards and dragon eggs may be printed out on card stock and laminated to make them last longer. An instruction sheet is included as well as a sample of the layout on the file folder.
