This is the handout that I give in many classes - drama, English, when studying Shakespeare, when studying movies...it's just so relevant.
It's shocking to think that kids don't realize the classic "types" of characters that they see over and over again...so this is a cool lesson!
Opens their eyes.
It goes over what an archetype is, and asks them to explain and give examples of classic types...they get so into discussing them, because they see how it relates to TV shows (ESPECIALLY cartoons!) and movies they've seen.
TIP - you can even make it into a competition, for who can make the list of examples the fastest, and they get so into it.
I've even shown a "Saved By The Bell" episode and asked them to fill out one of the columns off this alone. It's great.
This is a nice complimentary handout if you want to add in Commedia Dell'Arte
