This is the very first project I use in my grade 10 drama classes, to get them warmed up and being creative.
It's quick (1 day rehearsal / 1 day presentations) and really uses limited props - just chairs and desks.
It also teaches them some really important rules right off the bat
-establish the setting
-the importance of relationship dynamics
-keep it simple
Since it's so fun and open, the students are actually excited to present, which really sets the mood and pace for the rest of the projects.
NOTE - for my grade 9's, since they're beginners, the project I give them is a little simpler...it's here in my shop.
TIP - To lessen the stress, I make it clear that I don't mark this project on anything BUT the rules of theatre (no back to audience / staying open etc.).
