Drama Game-Alien, Tiger, Cow
This is a great, high-energy drama activity that encourages students to work together. The game will provide students plenty of movement teamwork fun! Students will learn movements and sounds to imitate on cue. A creative, cooperative extension of the activity allows students to transfer activity learning and knowledge by inventing movements with classmates for use in the classroom game!
The game is a fun improvisation game that focuses on:
• physical control
• creative movement
• quick decision making
• quick reaction to a verbal cue
• to have fun
• to release positive energy
All you need to get this movement activity started is space to form a big circle and enthusiastic students who are ready to move. The focus and concentration required in this game makes it a very challenging activity. I love an activity that includes an extension step that allows the students to create their own piece of the activity. Perhaps that is why the students feel such a sense of accomplishment when they successfully participate in a drama game.
This game can be done when students need a movement break in class or it can be done to serve as an extension to an activity. The topic attached to the activity is totally up to you. Do the activity exactly as it is written or put your own spin on it and design the activity around a topic or subject you are studying in class, such as, three characters in a literary selection.
