This is a fun way to teach the main rules of improv - I have 7 total.
Most students think IMPROV is purely spontaneous and fun (which it is) but there's always some key ways to make a scene successful. This shows them just how to SAVE a scene and KILL a scene!
I break the students up into groups, and give them each a rule.
They have to come up with an example of what TO do for this rule, and an example of what NOT to do - they get creative and act it out.
This makes it memorable/practical for the students- they see just how powerful these rules can be!
The first sheet is their main recording sheet - so after a group presents their rule, I make them write it up on the board and the class, together, fills out their 7 rules.
Of course you can add/delete any you see fit for your class.
