This is a really fantastically FUN game that we play for our SPONTANEOUS portion of improv...again, this is one of those games where if you ever have spare time, and ask them "wanna play a game?" they'll say THIS ONE, time and time and time again.
This Powerpoint goes through each step of the game to make it easier for you and your students to understand.
It also gives tips about leading and following...and of course, acceptance.
A list of quirks can easily be found online. I like the have them cut up in an envelope or a hat, because they really freak out over picking them :)
[just google "character quirks list - there's HUNDREDS]
You could easily mark this as part of an evaluation/assessment - or just use it for fun.
It's a classic game - a great one!
NOTE - you don't need any props, but we sometimes play it where the host has a few cups and some chip bowls on a few desks (a "table") - just to give them something to work with
