Promoting engagement is a key factor in creating an effective learning environment. In my classroom, I use drama in a variety of ways and have always found it to be a wonderfully engaging motivator for my students. These Task Cards are a fantastic resource to help you bring drama into your class and enhance engagement with your students.
There are 72 cards in total with four options on each card. Differentiation is possible due to the inclusion of numerous more complex options. Higher order thinkers will love the challenge of these cards! Here are just a few ways I have used these cards in my classroom. I’d love to hear from you regarding ways you find them successful !
1) Drama Lesson-Role Play– Teacher selects a card for a student to act out to class. Options A to D may be selected either by the student or the teacher.Student acts out but with NO WORDS OR SOUNDS. Classmates have three guesses. Student repeats charade until correct response given. Successful student is the new Champion and has their turn.
2) Time Filler
Great for when you have a spare few mins before a break or in between lessons.
3) Ice Breakers for start of year
Use at the beginning of the year to allow students to get to know each other and instil self confidence.
Use as story starter writing prompts for individual or whole class tasks.
I hope you, and your students, have as much fun using this resource as I have !
