This is a really fantastic, FUN, practical workshop presentation for teaching drama students about the art of sound effects.
I usually use this as part of reader's theatre / radio plays...it fits nicely into these VOICE units of study.
It asks them to do a mini presentation in groups where they create ambiance, and sound environments using just their voices (and any other creative ways they come up with!).
This handout walks them through the workshop (not materials required) and tips on how to do sound environments successfully.
The second page is some prompts that I give them to pick-out-of-a-hat from.
These end up being AWESOME presentations. Very memorable!
TIP - there's lots of YouTube videos of "voice actors in the studio", if you just search that. It shows them how important sounds are to ANY drama presentation.
