Attached is a storytelling activity for students studying elements of Drama. Everyone has been a “storyteller” at some point in their lives. This activity covers what it takes to be an EFFECTIVE storyteller through a personal experience speech.
Students will prepare to tell a story from their personal experience(s). They will plan and describe the story using colorful, descriptive language, and details to help create the entire picture. Finally, they will practice using dialog, and building to the climax or high point of interest in the story.
This activity also includes an area for students to "draft" or write their introduction, body, and conclusion for their story so that they can ultimately perform the story using animation and eye contact with the audience. There is also a list of possible topic suggestion ideas for struggling students.
