This is such a fun project for high school drama class for the VOICE unit of study.
It asks them to create a classic "action news" style presentation, like they're very aware of. Most of them have seen this on TV/seen a lot of spoof versions of it.
Their groups form a news team, where two people play the anchor and co-anchor and the rest of the roles they assign themselves - such as sports person, weather etc.
It's very open-ended and allows for lots of creativity and experimentation with vocal elements. Students get insanely creative with it!
It goes through some key tips on how to have a good presentation, as well as a recap of the that they should be using.
Also included is a basic rubric to make marking easy for you, if you chose to evaluate this. This also works as a wonderful back to school or intro project! To get them jumping into things.
-groups of 5 work really well for this, but it's totally flexible
-of course it can also be used as a major presentation where you evaluate body language etc. too - up to you! It's flexible
-I give them anywhere between 3 days to a week for this (1 day script writing / a few days rehearsals / final presentations), so again it's flexible
-I've tweaked this where they have to do it for our school news, too! That's a lot of fun
-also works for an IMPROV unit of study, just give them very limited rehearsal time, and don't let them write anything down
