Want a set for younger learners? See Level 1 here!
Draw and Write Level 2 is a set of 51 pages of unique writing prompts. Students are first prompted to add to the picture or come up with a story by drawing what will happen. They can then write either a story or a sentence about what is going on in their drawing.
Included in this set:
- 51 Draw & Write Prompts with word banks
- Instructions on how to use (optional)
These pages are great for encouraging beginning writers, having on hand for early finishers, or just to do for fun!
I always like to start by telling my learners that they can use their imagination and write and draw whatever they'd like. There is a word bank to help them write words or think of ideas, but they do not have to use it (of course, that is up to you!)
The idea behind draw and write units is to help kids unleash their inner writers! Oftentimes young learners or learners who struggle with writing can find it difficult to get all of their ideas down on paper. They have to think creatively, sound out words, and use their fine motor skills to write them down - that is a lot of work!
With Draw and Write pages, kids can start out by drawing their ideas. They can then use another time or day to write the story that will go with the picture. It's sort of like doing their prewriting and writing all on one page.
You can, of course, use these pages however you would like! Even my older kids love to get a hold of these and come up with all sorts of hilarious stories!
