These Draw and Write Reading Response Worksheets are designed for emerging or newly independent readers!
There are 20 different draw and write worksheet choices in 3 formats for differentiation (total of 60 pages)! Here's what's included:
- All 3 formats feature a prompt or question, followed by drawing and writing space.
- The first format has sentence starters printed on them, the second format has traceable sentence starters, the third format has all blank lines. You can use these 3 formats to differentiate throughout the school year as your students’ abilities change.
- Every page has handwriting lines for writing the sentences on.
- There are also 7 blank draw and write worksheets with fun, color-in borders that can be used for your own (or student-directed) draw and write responses.
Emerging readers do lots of oral reading, discussions, and narrations! These worksheets are ideal for those students who are ready to do some “beginner writing” about the stories and books they read. They can serve as a bridge, or just make change of pace, from oral discussions/narrations to more in-depth written responses or narratives. These would make a nice end-of-the-week culminating activity after a new story or book has been mastered. You could even create a keepsake booklet out of these to remember all of the stories read in a given school year and have it spiral-bound (an optional cover is included).
Home Educators: These reading response worksheets would make a great addition to your homeschool portfolio for end-of-year assessment or just for personal memory-keeping for this grade level.
Classroom Educators: These reading response worksheets are ideal for small group or whole class instruction and can be used at literacy centers/stations.
