Working on figurative language with your students? Here is a packet of materials and
instructions for idiomatic expressions. First, your students will draw their
own literal and figurative interpretations of each idiom. Drawing is a great
way to introduce the concept of non-literal meanings. Next, they will apply the
idiom to their own experiences and learn to use it correctly in sentences. IEP
goals and CCSS citations for grades 3-6 included.

There are two worksheets for every idiom: One is for the drawing activity and the other will help your student apply the idiom to their own experiences.
