-Each student needs a set of snap cubes (they will only use at most 9 at a time), an individual whiteboard or other hard moveable surface, handout, and pencil.
-Have students label whiteboard with FRONT, BACK, LEFT, and RIGHT as shown on the next page.
-Walk students through how to build the first 3D figure. Then have them place the figure in the center of the whiteboard with the word FRONT closest to them. Have students then hold the whiteboard with the figure on top at eye level and draw what they see from left to right. Have them turn the board so the word RIGHT is closest to them, hold it at eye level and draw what they see. Repeat these steps for the BACK and LEFT side of the figure. Once they have drawn all four views, show the correct drawings so they can see how they did. Next, have them answer the higher-level question. Make sure they show their work when necessary.
-Students who are not visual learners will struggle with this at first.
Continually walk around, monitoring who is struggling, offer assistance, and check for understanding.
