Why do so many students rewrite the same story: "I was at the park." over and over again? It's because this is the only thing the students know how to draw.
The purpose for this book is to develop and enhance your students’ drawing skills. As a longtime practitioner of Writer’s Workshop, I have found that many students are severely limited by a lack of representational drawing. I believe that by developing students’ drawing skills, we are giving them a greater vocabulary for writing their own stories. With this book you can systematically teach the following drawing skills:
* Faces that match the story
* Action lines
* Speech bubbles
Each skill is specifically taught in isolation then reinforced by completing half formed drawings. The drawings present a wide variety of scenes that will keep your students interested and engaged.
Once empowered with strong drawing skills, your students will be more engaged during Writer's Workshop and feel more empowered to tell their unique stories.
