Drive Thru Drills© is a fun, race car themed program that consists of short, intense and frequent drill sessions. The Speech and Language Therapist typically sees individual students 3 to 5 times per week for 5 to 8 minutes. Adjust the frequency and duration according to your needs. Sessions may take place in a quiet corner in the classroom or right outside in the hallway. No wasted time traveling back and forth to the Speech Room! This way, students miss less classroom time and get lots of opportunities to practice speech sounds, words and sentences! These materials can also be used during traditional group therapy sessions.
Drive Thru Drills© is great for students who only have 1 or 2 sound errors. It’s also ideal for students with short attention spans. It will work well with independent readers and those who can read with a little assistance. It can also be used with non-readers. In this case, you will need to read the drills and have the student repeat them. This program is appropriate for both IEP and Intervention (ex: RTI) students.
6 choices of Folder Covers. Color or Black and White (for students who like to color)

HOW TO USE
These Drive Thru Drill© sessions are as quick and easy as 1. Review Homework 2. Drill Page 3. Reward Station.
Print out the Drill Page that you want to use and put it on a clipboard. (To save paper and ink, you can show the Drill Pages on a computer or iPad. However, you won’t be able to use the Reward Station or send the Drill Pages for homework). Take a few crayons and a pencil with you. Take along a watch or timer if you want to time your sessions.
During the first session, have student choose a Folder Cover, color it (if applicable) and adhere it to the front of a pocket folder. This folder will be used to store Drill Pages and Reward Station. The student will need to bring this folder to each session. Sessions can take place in the classroom or outside in the hallway.
Drive Thru Drill© sessions go like this:
(approx. 1 minute) Review Homework from previous session. Check for parent signature. Have student read the words and sentences.
(approx. 3 minutes) Complete a new Drill Page.
(approx. 1 minute) In the Reward Station, student colors 1 race car each time he/she returns signed homework and/or brings their folder to the sessions. You can decide if you would like to give prizes at certain intervals (ex: a prize for every 5 cars, 10 cars, whole page etc.)
For extra fun, try the Race-Winning Challenges! They include ideas such as: Say your words while standing on one foot, while walking in a circle, while using your favorite cartoon voice. These challenges keep students engaged as well as facilitate faster mastery of speech sounds!
This program includes 12 Drive Thru Drill© Pages that can be used repeatedly and in any order for an infinite number of sessions!
