There is so much to teach with Romeo & Juliet that it can be hard to fit it all into one unit! This project not only covers all of the bases, but also puts students at the center of the classroom. First, students learn about monologue and soliloquy and practice analyzing the Queen Mab speech from Act 1. Then they are assigned a famous speech from the play to analyze within small groups. Finally, they create a digital presentation to teach the class about their speech. Five speeches are included (2 from Act 2, and 1 from each of the rest of the acts). I have the students present in chronological order after we have finished the play as a nice way to tie up the unit. This resource includes a PDF with strips for assigning speeches, worksheets for analyzing the Queen Map speech, templates for students to take notes on each other's presentations, and rubrics (group, individual, and self-evaluation). It also includes an editable PowerPoint with an overview of the project, instructions for groups, and slides with all of the elements students are required to complete for their presentation. This is a zip-file, so to open it, you must download it, then extract the files to your computer (click "extract all" at the top of the file window). I hope you enjoy this product!
