This is Part 1 of a three-part curriculum for teaching substance-abuse prevention to primary school-aged children. "Arty and the Booger-Genie" is a poignant, suspenseful, comical, exciting and scary fiction book about a ten year old boy and his experiences with drug use and addiction. Part 2 is the Teaching Guide for educators and caregivers to associate the experiences in the book with related lessons. It includes information as well as tests that satisfy NJ State Core Curriculum Requirements. Part 3 is a free coloring book made from illustrations in the book. The program is intended for children around ten years of age, or those attending the fourth grade. However, it has been used successfully in high school health class for children with developmental disabilities such as autism.
