Through various activities, you will guide your students to: learn what substance abuse is, discuss why drug/alcohol prevention is so important at a young age, identify strategies to avoid substance abuse, make a plan for what to do if they see drugs or alcohol in school and more! This product also comes with optional homework and extension activities. It can be taught over 2-3 guidance lesson periods or streamlined down to one lesson. It can also be co-taught with the counselor beginning the lesson and the teacher following up and finishing the lesson. This resource includes 1 lesson plan with a goal activity about making healthy choices, an alcohol poisoning information sheet, a "Do You Have an Emergency?" poster, counselor request forms, and more! It is appropriate for ages 8-16.
