Welcome to your lesson supplies for your Drug & Alcohol Unit! Whether using this for Red Ribbon Week or National Prevention Week or whenever, there are many activities and tools to customize to fit your needs. With a PowerPoint presentations, a booklet in two differentiated levels, 14 activities in differentiated levels, a coloring page pledge you can customize with your class names and more!
This is your Red Ribbon Week display activity! Students customize these posters, provided with both a boy and girl option, with their own thoughts and images as well as color. Then print the headings and icons provided on astrobright paper to complete your colorful Red Ribbon Week Bulletin Board or hallway display. As a bonus, use the Red Ribbon Week Activity Form to send home to parents. Use the pre-filled form that is ready-to-print or choose to fully customize your own using the form ready option.
Perfect for your Red Ribbon Week or National Prevention Week these materials include tags, an original poem drug free pledge poster and pledge cards, and drug free certificates!
Print the tags in color or B&W and let the students color them in or print the B&W on astrobright paper!
Enlarge the pledge poster to hang up and provide the pledge cards to each student to keep their own copy. Both B&W and color provided.
Certificates - fill in your name, your class list and the date on the first page and watch the certificates automatically fill in and size accordingly - ready to print! A great option is to print these on astrobright paper!
The Booklet and the Activities are provided in two differentiated levels to choose from. Each is also provided in color or black & white.
The Booklet
You can choose to print the booklet and provide each student with their own copy or have a few copies to share in small group form.
There are also four cover options to choose from with some gender, ethnicity choices.
This handy guide will help lay out the basics for your students and provide talking points for further discussions.
The Activities
Choose to print whatever activities you want to use from the activity PDF and in whatever level you prefer as well as in color or black & white. There are differentiated activities with different line options and some with pictures and some with words.
You can create a booklet of the activities for each student to keep throughout the unit as well. Here is a breakdown of the activities included:
What do you THINK?
Start off with an open discussion about the students THINK drugs and alcohol are, allowing them to write or illustrate their thoughts.
Healthy Search & Find
Use this word search to start sorting out positive and negative choices of what to put in your body and your life. Circle the healthy choices and put a line through the unhealthy choices.
Healthy Choices I Have Made!
A writing and illustrative prompt page that gets them thinking about what they already do that is healthy for their bodies and minds. Two differentiated lines provided.
What would YOU do? (3 scenarios)
Three writing and illustrative prompts included to put them in situations where they have to think about their reactions to drugs and alcohol.
This is ME!
This activity further explores the student’s understanding of being healthy and what that looks and feels like and being unhealthy with drugs and alcohol.
Know Your Medicines
These two pages are meant to be used to help with drug/medication recognition so that the students understand visually what they should look out for and be reponsible with.
Just say NO!
This activity reinforces what are healthy smart choices and what are not.
I can build MY Future!
Using either words or images to cut and sort the healthy choices and the unhealthy choices while referencing that these choices impact their future.
I can feel GOOD without drugs!
A list writing opportunity to give students to chance to think about what makes them feel good in life and how they don’t need drugs to achieve that feeling.
What do you KNOW? - 3 assessment choices
Three pages intended to assess and review what the students have absorbed from the unit.
The PowerPoint Presentation
Also included is a PowerPoint file with 20 slides that is intended to introduce the unit and the discussion points and provide some prompts for whole class discussion. Choose to use whatever works for you.
Coloring Page Pledge
Type in your student’s names on the first page and then print and each student will have a personalized coloring pledge to stay drug free!
