Drums, Girls, and Dangerous Pie by Jordan Sonnenblick is a story you'll never forget. When asked to pick a book for a school-wide read, this one was my first choice. In order to help all of our teachers successfully participate in our school-wide read, I created this novel study guide so the entire faculty, no matter their certification, could easily teach this novel. It can be used for upper elementary, middle grades, and high school classes (especially struggling readers in the upper grades).

Included are writing topics, vocabulary activities, and discussion questions for each chapter. There are some graphic organizers included as well.

This novel study guide was designed to be completed in a 9 week grading period, but has enough material to cover a longer stretch of time.

It has been designed to help teachers provide assignments for each chapter, and it can be completed in a group, with a partner, or independently. The book may be read by the teacher or independently by each student. Class discussion will make this unit more successful and will improve student understanding of the text and the material covered in the worksheets.

This novel study guide has been used successfully with sixth, seventh and eighth graders for a school-wide read. It received high ratings from teachers of all subject areas (28 teachers total).

Since then, this material has been used by middle school ELA teachers.

Thank you for your consideration. If you decide to purchase this product, I'm sure you'll find it will exceed your expectations. You and your students are sure to enjoy this novel and have wonderful success.
