Product Description

After students have read Ch. 11-14 of Drums, Girls and Dangerous Pie, put them in groups to complete a silent Pencil Chat!

A pencil chat is a silent conversation, like passing notes back and forth. Each person at the table will be given a different question to answer (I like to have students write in different colored pens!) They have only three minutes to respond to the question and need to be writing the entire time. When they hear the timer buzz, they pass their paper to the next person, get a new sheet passed to them, and then I start the timer again for them to begin responding. After all the sheets have been passed within a group, they go through each sheet and read each others' responses and have a discussion. My middle school kids love this!!
