Looking for some easy to prepare math stations or centers? This pack includes instructions and recording sheets for two fun and simple counting centers. Just print, laminate, use dry erase markers, pull together a few manipulatives you already have in the class, and you're all set!
The two stations/centers included are:
1. Counting jars
Print and laminate recording sheet. Prepare small jars or Tupperware containers with varying numbers of small objects (pom poms, stickers, counters, buttons, etc). Label each jar with a letter. Students will pick a jar and record the letter in the first column. Then they will count the objects, write the number in the second column, and that number of tally marks in the third column using a dry erase marker.
2. Building and Counting Sight Words
Print and laminate recording sheets. Cut apart sight word cards. Provide students with various manipulatives, such as snap cubes, counters, pattern blocks—or any small object! Students will then pick a sight word and record the chosen word in the first column, and an object and record that in the second column. Then they will “write” the word using the object (make the letters with the snap cubes, eg). Then they will count how many total snap cubes (eg) they used to make the word, and record that in the third column. Sight words are tiered for counting, since the longer the sight word, the more objects needed. 2 letters-blue, 3 letters-green, 4 letters-yellow.
I am happy to answer any questions! Would love if you could leave some feedback!
