This activity introduces students to their fifteen due process rights as presented in the Bill of Rights. Students are provided four sheets. Three sheets contain large boxes while the fourth sheet contains small boxes and is entitled "Due Process Rights Interpreted." The large boxes list the due process rights in the original language contained in the US Constitution. The small boxes provide a translation of each due process right in language that is easier to understand. Students match the due process right translation to the actual due process as written in the Constitution and attach it to the large box. Once completed, the boxes are stapled together creating a due process flip chart. This flip chart acts as a wonderful graphic organizer that can be utilized for the remainder of the year.
Required material: class set of scissor and paste/tape. Detailed directions included.
