This lesson plan and handout provides a plan for two or more lessons in which a class designs and performs a dramatised reading of Wilfred Owen's anti-war poem from WW1. It involves dividing the class into two groups, readers and mimes. There are comprehensive notes for the teacher on direction, skills and how to build to a simple production.
The readers need to decide how to use different techniques, such as reading in chorus or singly, repeating words and phrases, The mimes need to design a series of tableaux (frozen scenes). Adding percussion and instrumental sounds can be very effective. A performance could involve lighting, though it is recommended that props are not used and costumes kept to a bare minimum.
