DNA (Dynamic Note Taking Activities) for students’ BRAINs (Biology Resource & Activities for Interactive Notebooks) are designed to help your scholars learn biology with the use of interactive notebooks. If you have not ventured into the world of interactive notebooks this resource is still for you. There are printable pages for use with three ring binders. DNA for students’ BRAINs will help students make connections between vocabulary terms with the use of concept maps. Concept maps are a research based graphic organizer for helping students to make connections between key vocabulary terms.
DNA for Students’ BRAINs can be used to introduce content in a traditional classroom. This resource may also be used to flip your classroom. Your scholars may be exposed to content by watching the associated Brain Pop video and completing the concept map prior to coming to your class. If you have other materials for introducing this academic content this may be used as an independent practice activity or an end of lesson assessment. For quick and easy grading this resource can be given along with a google form quiz.
DNA for Students BRAINs can be used as a stand alone resource or with Brain Pop’s multimedia presentation on cellular respiration. Brain Pop is an educational website that showcases animated videos for English language arts, mathematics, science, social studies, the arts and more. This award winning service has engaged hundreds of students in my class and many more beyond.
