Sometimes teaching the kiddos the steps is not enough. They can be absolute experts at using their strategies when told to, but on their own, they often go out the window.
These visuals can help them remind THEMSELVES what to do when they want to speak smoothly, hopefully to prevent the bumps rather than fix them.
I actually pair this with multi sensory cues (moving around while doing different symbols for each step) and made a jingle to make it more catchy, fun and memorable!
The visual bookmark also includes a visual and analogy to help understand why we breathe, with two practice sentences. Quick, simple, smooth. Just was we like it.
*I will personally use this after I have used an anatomy visual to teach all basic foundational strategies on breathing. "Belly breath!"
