Please view my video on YouTube to see how I use these bookmarks in my classroom:
Included in this download is the file in a .pdf and a .doc format. You can edit it to fit your needs.
***NOTE: I do colorcode all of my bookmarks that I use throughout the year by unit/genre - I print the Dystopian Book Marks on white Cardstock (because if Jonah from "The Giver" cannot see in color, neither can we! :) )
I've been using these bookmarks for the last 4 years and I find a few things to be fantastic about them:
1. Students see their progress and efforts on my ceiling - Data is literally on the ceiling.
2. They are portable and fit easily into books - Everything I want them to track while reading is right there on the bookmark.
3. When a student turns in a bookmark, we conferr about the book and they get immediate feedback and validation for their efforts.
It's a fast, simple and easy method to track reading - It has replaced Reading Logs in my classroom.
I hope these are amazing and revolutionize your Reading Workshops! :)
