Similar to the D String Reading Assessment, this is a beginners note reading assessment for all string instruments on E string for Double Bass and Violin, on C String for Viola and Cello.
It asks them to label notes using letter names in a stepwise format, then in a longer mixed format. Finally, it provides a staff for them to write the notes above letters provided. They also need to draw the appropriate clef and key signature.
Could be differentiated for those who are more advanced by adding time signature and rhythm. For those who are not as advanced, could be done with finger numbers.
4th Fingers are included for Violin and Viola (although Viola could be interpreted as Open G String), the string above is also included for both Cello and Bass. These strings are usually taught once the students are placed in ensembles as unison playing is not possible on these strings for mixed classes.
