E-pals: a wonderful opportunity for your students to learn about other cultures, make new friends, broaden their horizons, and become participants in the global community of the 21st century. This two day unit allows students to reflect on their own culture/s and bring it to life, as well as draft a classroom description of what makes their class special, different, unique, and critique other classroom descriptions for author's purpose, "must haves," etc. A permission slip for e-pals is included. This is the platform for embarking on a cultural exchange project for your students--the possibilities for what can you accomplish in this exchange are full of possibilities: email, Skype, exchange of music, recipes, the typical day in the life of, history, government, geographical features, fun stuff, etc.
