This set of words and pictures would be suitable for use with emergent/ consolidating English as an Additional speakers and native English speakers to develop vocabulary and reading skills.
The picture word matching activity could be done individually or with a partner.
Snap could be played by dealing out all the cards to the players who hold the cards face down Players take turns to place cards on the table in a pile. If picture and word match, the player says 'Snap' and takes the pile of cards. A time limit can be set. The winner is the player with the most cards.
The vocabulary used in this game includes
potato, carrot, cabbage, cauliflower, onion, mushroom, lettuce, cucumber, tomato. celery, turnip, broccoli, peas, beans, aubergine, garlic, asparagus, artichoke, parsnip, peppers, brussels sprouts, sweet corn pumpkin, radish, courgette, leek, sweet potato
Laminating or printing on card is suggested.
