MIDDLE SCHOOL MATH EASTER ESCAPE ROOM ACTIVITY

This escape room activity is an exciting and engaging way to review or practice various math concepts in any math classroom!

As one of the Easter Bunny's helpers you have been very busy preparing for Easter, which is just around the corner. After falling into a deep sleep, you suddenly wake to find yourself trapped in one of the cells in the elaborate underground network of tunnels on Easter Island! The Wicked Weasel has kidnapped the Easter Bunny, trapped you and your team, and is planning to steal all the easter treats! Can you and your friends work together to solve the puzzles that are hidden through the room to unlock the door and escape the tunnels of Easter Island?

This bundle contains:

• 5 holiday themed work centers with various puzzles students must decode and work through to escape the "Tunnels of Easter Island"
• Student calculation workbook
• Excel solution file for students to enter final results to "escape"
• Detailed teacher instructions for escape room setup and lesson delivery

This escape room is designed to last one full class period and the complexity of decoding the puzzles is designed to challenge and engage all students in middle school math classrooms.

Math topics covered in this lesson include:

• Conversions between fractions, decimals and percents
• Basic algebra (inputting known variables into equations and solving)
• Graphing points on a coordinate grid
• Applying rules of order of operations
• Logic puzzles

Simply print and cut out the materials and you are ready to set up your escape room. The only additional materials needed to complete this activity is student access to a computer (only one computer needed for the entire class).

Note: Computer must be able to access Microsoft excel. Computer must be a desktop or laptop computer as the file used in this escape room requires enabling macros, which is not compatible with iPads or other tablets.
