Use this mini-assessment formatively or summatively to guide instruction of common core standard 2.NBT.4:
Compare two three-digit numbers based on meanings of the hundreds, tens, and ones digits, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
Simply print and let students complete. I score these 1-4 and use this information to guide flexible math groupings. These problems are appropriate for the first instructional period of second grade, with a 1 indicating 'not meeting standard', 2 indicating 'working towards standard', 3 indicating 'meeting standard' and 4 indicating 'exceeding standard.' The problems increase in difficulty, allowing you to appropriately scaffold instruction.
