This is a great way to scaffold argument writing for students at the beginning of a unit. I use it in conjunction with the Lucy Calkins Argument Unit of Study along with the SRSD OREO or TREE strategy. I noticed my students were just plopping down evidence into their essays, but not organizing it at all. This is a great way to give them some help organizing their essay, before asking them to do it on their own!
This can be edited to fit INFORMATIONAL WRITING AS WELL!
