Are you starting a Makerspace in your library or classroom and looking for a way to introduce your students to what it is and how to use it?
This Google Slides presentation provides a fantastic way to help your students become acquainted with the idea of a Makerspace. You can use this slideshow as a backdrop for your discussions about what a Makerspace is and how students will use their time in their Makerspace. It includes 7 slides that go over what a Makerspace is, what STEAM is, what types of materials can be found in a Makerspace, what types of activities take place in Makerspaces, what people can learn in Makerspaces, and what is expected of students when they are using a Makerspace.
I created this presentation when introducing my library students to what we will be doing during our new "Makerspace time" in my school library. It was designed for students, but you could also easily edit this presentation and use it with parents at a Back-to-School Night or Curriculum Night or with teachers at a faculty meeting or professional development training. It provides a very basic outline of maker spaces for children or adults who are being introduced to the concept of "making" for the first time.
The text in this Google Slides presentation is editable, meaning that while the backgrounds/graphics are set and cannot be changed, you CAN add or subtract any of the text I have included. You can also delete whole slides or add new slides if you want to do so.
