Description
Hot Seat is my most competitive game I play with my students, and they LOVE it! This version is now editable within Google Slides (TM). This game set covers basic house vocabulary, as well as some prepositions and a few chores. I love La Silla Caliente because it is a great way to get ALL of my students engaged at the same time, and allows me to formatively assess where every student is individually! This game uses movement to keep students motivated and eager to play :) But you can adjust by passing a "key" item between team members if you don't want movement.
You will download a PDF that contains a link to your own editable copy within Google Drive. You will also find a link to make your own copy of the digital score tracker that I designed for this activity :)

This game of LA SILLA CALIENTE (hot seat!) assesses student knowledge of:
*house vocabulary: rooms and basic items in a house
*prepositions (al lado de, cerca de, lejos de, enfrente de, delante de, encima de)
*chores (limpiar, pasar la aspiradora, lavar los platos, hacer la cama)
I love this game because all students play, and all students MATTER!! If you've never played before, directions are on the first slide. Please check out the preview to get a better idea!
The presentation provides 30 question slides, with each answer on the slide immediately following the question. Questions move through five different categories.
1) The first group of questions gives rooms of the house in English and asks students ¿Cómo se dice? (x5)
2) The second category is a set of true / false questions in regards to logistics of where items may be found in a house (x5)
3) The third category provides students with common prepositional phrases, and asks for the equivalent in Spanish (x5)
4) The fourth category ask students ¿Dónde está? for specific items in the house (el lavaplatos, la ducha, etc.) (x10)
5) The fifth category provides short open response questions for students to answer in complete sentences (x5)
This is my most popular game with my high school students. They beg for it!
Directions for the game as well as an answer key are PROVIDED in the slideshow itself! Check out the preview to get a better idea. Enjoy!
